How Terminal Ping protects what matters most
Your messages, passwords, and instructions are locked with bank-level encryption that even we can't read. Here's exactly how it works, from the moment you write something down to the moment the right person receives it.
Four simple steps.
From setup to peace of mind
Create Your AccountCreate your free account and encryption is set up automatically. Your information is protected from day one, and we can never see your data.
Add What MattersPasswords, account details, personal letters, final instructions—add everything your people would need. Give different people different information, so everyone gets exactly what they need.
Set Your Check-In SchedulePick a rhythm that fits your life: daily, weekly, or monthly. A quick response keeps everything locked and private. That’s it.
Automatic DeliveryIf you stop responding, your information is securely unlocked and delivered to the people you chose. They get exactly what you left for them—nothing more, nothing less.
Under the Hood
How each step actually works
Everything you write is locked inside your own browser before it ever reaches us. We use AES-256-GCM encryption—the same standard that protects online banking—so your information is unreadable to anyone but you. We store the locked version, but we never hold the key.
You pick a schedule—daily, weekly, or monthly. Before each deadline, we send you a reminder. One quick response and everything stays locked and private. If you don’t respond, the delivery process begins automatically.
After a missed check-in, there’s a grace period you control. During this time, you can still respond to stop delivery. This protects against accidental misses from travel, illness, or simply being busy.
If the grace period passes without a response, your information is securely delivered to your chosen recipients via encrypted email. Each person receives clear instructions for accessing what you left for them.
Built to earn your trust.
The same encryption that protects your bank account protects your information here
Your information is encrypted inside your browser before it ever reaches our servers. We use AES-256—the same encryption standard that protects your online banking.
Even if someone broke into our servers, your information would be unreadable. We never hold the keys to unlock it—only you do.
Your information stays encrypted during storage and delivery. Only the specific person you chose can unlock and read what you left for them.
Your encryption key is split into separate pieces stored in different locations. Even if one location were compromised, your data stays protected (advanced feature in Business plan).
Encryption Deep Dive
How Your Information Gets Locked
When you save your information, everything happens inside your browser before we ever see it:
- A unique encryption key is created just for your information
- Your content is locked using AES-256-GCM—the same encryption that protects online banking
- The locked data is prepared and safely stored, ready for delivery when needed (Included in Starter and Personal plans)
- Your encryption key is split into separate pieces so no one person or system holds the full key (Coming in Business plan)
- The key pieces are stored in different secure locations (Coming in Business plan)
What We Store
We only keep the locked version of your information. Specifically:
- Your encrypted content (completely unreadable without your key)
- Basic details like titles, dates, and delivery status
- Recipient email addresses
- Check-in schedules and grace periods
- Activity logs (for security auditing)
We never store or have access to: your actual messages, complete encryption keys, or anything that could unlock your information without authorization.
Delivery Security
When it's time for delivery, your information is unlocked in the secure environment of the recipient's device using their unique decryption key. This means your information is never exposed during transit—only the person you chose can read it.
